7 Degrees Brahaus

Undoubtedly, one of Gurgaon’s most exquisite brewpubs, 7 degrees Brahaus is as German a pub as you can get (in Gurgaon!)- from its plush interiors, high ceilings and rustic flooring to  the large brew tanks that overlook the huge bar to the Oak and Maplewood furniture. Speaking of all things German, the beer is great! With the ‘7 degrees’ in its name signaling the ideal temperature to serve beer at, this beer garden themed pub is right on the money with their brews. While the standard wheat beer soothes the soul so, the 7 degree Masters Brew is a must have for dark beer lovers. The 7 degree special is a fruity beer that caters to sweeter palates. They have other mixes and liquors for non-beer people although their special beer-cocktail menu is noteworthy. The place seals the deal with its German sausages section that offers Nurnberg, Bratwurst, Krakauer, Weisswurst and Weiner & Knaxx sausages. Tuesdays are ladies nights.

Manhattan Craft Brewery

Manhattan Craft Brewery combines their perfectly chilled brews with prompt service and a large space enough for big and small gatherings to deliver a very lively experience. With large screens all over the place playing pop music all day, this American styled pub packs a punch with its signature Belgian Wheat brew, the German Wheat brew and pale and dark lagers. The finger food is decent and goes perfectly with the beers. Their Xbox games, DJ performances and stand-up performances every Thursday (in collaboration with the Canvas Laugh Club, Bombay) ensure that there is never a dull moment around here!

Soi 7 Pub & Brewery

This novelty pub features a huge terrace, comfortable indoor seating, and a boxing ring in the middle that hosts Thai boxing nights! For some moments, we didn’t even realize we were in a brewery. But they were quick to remind us with their selection of wheat, Brooklyn, Amber and dark beers- each one a masterpiece. Being suckers for dark beer, we can’t help but be a little partial towards their dark brew that is rich, creamy and perfectly smokey. The place boasts of an elaborate Pan Asian cuisine and their Yakitori Fish and Ginger Chicken Dumplings are impressive. We recommend that you make reservations before you go there because the place is usually packed.

Striker Pub & Brewery

One of the oldest breweries in Gurgaon, Striker enjoys the following of a large number of young loyalists who swear by their fresh beer and great music. The pub takes rock music very seriously, and it shows- from the music they play to the platform they provide for showcasing new and established bands; from its huge walls with names of legends such as Led Zeppelin, The Rolling Stones, Deep Purple and many others etched on them to countless vinyl records used as décor. Even the names they’ve given to their brews are musical: The Jazzy Light, Weiss Blues and Rock Bock. The Rock Bock is full bodied, malty and wins us over. Not far behind are the low calorie beers which are (surprisingly) splendid. Like any other brewery, they offer perfect accompaniments (for beer, that is) like Nachos with Chicken, Five Spice Chicken Dim sums & Hummus Pita and we promise you won’t be disappointed.

Downtown Diners & Fresh Beer Café

Downtown is mostly abuzz with the many conversations, celebrations, music and the screams from passionate games playing tennis or bowling on the Nintendo Wii. Except the end of the night when it isn’t just ‘abuzz’ anymore, it’s euphoric with everyone singing and dancing. The friendly staff doesn’t let much time pass between the time you enter and the time that you have a giant pitcher of beer on your table or wherever at the bar it is you’re standing (which is likely, given how packed the pub is!). They offer a selection of Wheat, Lager (or what they call premium) and Dark beers. Owned by the same people who own Manhattan, the brewery signals the owners’ love for New York with its layout and wooden interiors. The pizzas are good, but the hotdogs are great!

Howzatt

The brewpub has official bragging rights for being one of the rare sports themed microbreweries in NCR. Styled around cricket, Howzatt is the perfect place for game nights (only cricket though) while you sip on their brews. Sitting on the keeper-glove shaped seats, you can order between the Doosra- their lager beer, the Googly-wheat beer, the Bouncer- dark and the Full Toss- Special dark. We, personally love places that offer multiple dark beer variants and both the beers are pretty amazing. On the one hand the Bouncer is full and malty while on the other, the Full Toss is creamy and has a lovely nutty aftertaste. Their beer-based cocktails are worth trying, especially if you have a sweeter palate.

This is a new smallish brewpub that’s come up on Sohna Road. It is simple and elegant and believes in delivering what it stands for: freshly brewed beer. They have standard ales and dark beers but the lager is a clear winner with its earthy flavor with fruity undertones. Service is great and the place is ideal for chilling after work.
