Chumbak has been creating magic ever since 2010 and this whimsical tsunami of colours and quirky designs only seems to get bigger with time, submerging the entire country in its glory. Today, they are one of the leading design houses for products across Apparel, Home and Accessories. Retailing through their webstore and 30 plus stores across Delhi, Mumbai, Bangalore, Hyderabad, Chennai, Pune, Cochin, Jaipur and many other beautiful cities, Chumbak has successfully hit the bull’s-eye and won the hearts of their loyal customers through the years. Their design philosophy has resonated impeccably with billions of happy consumers who keep going back for more.

Our love for Chumbak skyrocketed after they announced the launch of their apparel section called ‘Collection One’ in the month of October in 2015. Their eclectic, jumpy and happy designs and colours got us going gaga over every piece of clothing on the racks blending immaculately with their motto of ‘Happy. Design. Wake Up. Change’.

As of today, Chumbak has 6 stores across NCR (Hauz Khas, Meherchand market, Cyber Hub Gurgaon, DLF promenade, GK-1 and Noida) and is growing at the fast rate (two stores per month across India). The most recent one is in Noida at the DLF Mall of India which opened on 26th January, 2016. They are planning to open 25 more stores across India over this year.

Last weekend, while taking a stroll through the GK-1 M-block market, we spotted the fairly new Chumbak store in the area and decided to see through their old and new collections.

When you first step into this store, it gives out an ice cream parlour vibe. You feel at home with a majestic sense of comfort. This doesn’t happen at every other store. (I know. I have been a shopaholic for a fair amount of time to know this.) For all we know, it smelt like cake.

The stores opens into the home and accessories section—on the left—lined by a tastefully designed two-seater sofa in their trademark style paired up with cushions etched with equally quirky prints and a beautiful coffee table. Right next to it was a neon green chair called ‘happy rocking’ which felt like something that I could take home. It was comfortable to sit on and would have done a brilliant job at imparting a pop of colour to my space. I was let down by the price which proclaimed it to be out of my league. I, also, happened to spot some ottomans to die for.

Their collection of bags and wallets had some amazing artwork imprinted on them. I majorly fell for the designs, the sweet amalgamation of soft pastels along with a pop of colour, and recreative patterns like fruits, sceneries, animals and humans on dresses, jackets, kurtas, skirts and pyjamas. The clothes section was divided between men and women apparels. One could also spot canvas shoes and bellies adorned with pretty prints of cats and owls.

The store, also, encompasses a good-looking collection of stationery, keychains, wrist watches, wall clocks and phone cases on the cash counter. With vintage airplanes hanging from the ceiling, the store has one section dedicated entirely to cutlery, mugs and cute jar sets which are ought to make one’s heart melt. We fell in love with the framed prints of eclectic designs showcasing a satirical on life goals and funny caricatures. The store, also, displayed a wide variety of backpacks, laptop bags, neck pillows and eye masks uniquely designed in their old-school style format. Apart from these, one would find planters, cages and lamps amongst other home accessories. Their bobbleheads are the most popular item displayed beautifully on one of the pillar cases.
